Avast CloudCare - Once great product, now average. Still, worth considering.

Overall Satisfaction with Avast CloudCare
Avast CloudCare, for many years, was our go-to solution for providing virus protection for all my workstations and servers alike. This was when it was AVG. However, AVG was acquired by Avast CloudCare. For the first two years, the product remained good. However, it went downhill after that. Over the past year of use, it did not provide adequate levels of protection, the system resources consumption increased significantly, and it was causing more issues than it was solving. The first years were great, and the product would protect from almost anything. On a positive note, the cloud management platform is excellent, easy to use, and the product is a breeze to deploy.
- Great central management platform.
- Policies are straightforward to create and deploy, and you can use groups with individual policies.
- Below average protection
- Unreasonably high system resource consumption.
- Below average protection.
- On the flip-side it is cheap.
When the product was initially deployed in our organization, it was a stable, dependable, and easy to use Antivirus protection. However, the newer versions, under Avast CloudCare management, had significantly reduced the detection rates, turning it into not as great a product as it once was. This lead me to look into alternatives, and eventually, we decided to replace the product with Sophos Intercept X, with EDR. It is a much more expensive product; however, the features are much better, and the added functionality of, for example, web filtering saves costs elsewhere, so works out only a bit more expensive.
