Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it for many of our clients. AWS Elastic Beanstalk provides a simple way to deploy, maintain and analyze our APIs.

Pros and Cons

Easy to use.
Extremely configurable.

Deployment hooks could be a little more straight forward and easier to understand.

Return on Investment

Decreases the amount of time spent by engineers deploying and maintaining the applications.
Allows for having multiple environments for the same application (i.e. development, testing, production).

Usability

Once you've familiarized yourself with the system (which isn't too hard) it is very simple to use.

I've had to use AWS support for other services (CloudFront) and was directed to the Elastic Beanstalk support at first. They were able to answer a ton of my questions and walk me through how to use EB to resolve some of the issues.

Alternatives Considered

AWS Lambda

I use both EB and Lambda for different use cases. I normally use AWS Lambda for my smaller software needs.

Likelihood to Recommend

AWS Elastic Beanstalk is well suited for web applications and application APIs.

AWS Elastic Beanstalk is the bee's knees!
