Overall Satisfaction with Axcient

Axicent was deployed at a few of our client sites. The design was impressive, the ability to spin up bare-metal VM's on Axcient's hardware was very helpful in disaster recovery situations. The price however, was comparable.
  • The design was impressive, the ability to spin up bare-metal VM's on Axcient's hardware was very helpful in disaster recovery situations.
  • The GUI was easy to use and very nice when looking at all aspects of a site's backups at once
  • The price for the unit and implementation was high. Maybe unnecessary for many smaller organizations.
  • For businesses who are infrastructure critical this product has a very good ROI if the infrastructure should happen to fail.
- Veem is comparable and VMWare as a whole, now that many servers are being converted to virtual anyway. Axicent may be falling out of date. Since the fact that it is very unlikely that a HOST will fail and if so, the VM can be easily transferred to another host, leaving the need for a backup solution like Axcient obsolete.
Given the cost of the Axcient device and the solution as a whole, I feel a better solution would just be to implement VMware, install a 2nd host and run them in a cluster. This is more reliable and has more advantages than just a bare metal spin up solution.
This product is well suited for a medium sized business who cannot afford downtime.
