Overall Satisfaction with Azure Data Catalog

We use Azure Data Catalog in our organization to solve data collection and conduct thematic audits of data modules. We use the platform to quantify data first and then find structures or common themes to derive actionable reports for our quarter-end efforts. The scope is strictly internal for now but in the future, we want to roll out the solution for clients as well.
  • Quality of data collection
  • range of modules to choose from
  • wide recognition and industry visibility of the brand
  • UX and design in terms of usage and features.
  • Format of the platform can at times be complicated during on boarding.
  • Reporting templates at times dont fit our needs
  • data quality
  • industry recognition - all our clients use Azure too so it was a natural fit
  • pricing
  • I think the pricing structure has been a big plus for us
  • I feel industry recognition of the brand too has been a big positive to our ROI. Partners are more eager to work with us.
  • onboarding has certainly been easer for teams.
I feel Azure Data Catalog was better suited for our industry and maturing level in terms of costs and onboarding processes in place. I also feel familiarity played a very big role in us choosing the platform over others. For enterprises, I would recommend AWS but not for scaling operations.

Do you think Azure Data Catalog delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Azure Data Catalog's feature set?

Yes

Did Azure Data Catalog live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Azure Data Catalog go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Azure Data Catalog again?

Yes

It is great for teams to get started and get an established process onboarded across the organization. But I feel as teams and organizational practices evolve, a more robust tool like AWS is better suited. In my personal experience. I also feel there could have been a better knowledge library or community established (for example Salesforce community) to engage with current users and troubleshoot.
