Overall Satisfaction with BigCommerce

BigCommerce is our e-commerce platform, used for our entire company. Approximately 50% of our sales come through our BigCommerce store. We have used 3 other shopping carts in the last decade but we slowly outgrew them as we increased our product line, and none of them compared to the overall quality, performance, and SEO options that BigCommerce provides to us. We use Enterprise because we have 80,000 products and need to manage a very large catalog.
  • SEO
  • Connecting to 3rd party apps
  • Google AdWords integration
  • Sometimes the features built into BC don't work correctly anymore, such as exporting only small numbers of products from a specific area, or review products you just uploaded.
  • Connecting to Amazon has been unsuccessful for us because we already built our products in Amazon and there's no backward functionality to match them. BigCommerce wants to rebuild them instead, so we don't use that channel.
  • Improved number of orders
  • Attracted more site visitors
  • Increased average order value
We started with fewer than 10,000 products, and I have been adding to our catalog for years. Now we have more than 65,000 products with only minimal slowdown.
We integrate with many apps, including NetSuite (via FarApp), Nextopia search, Google marketplace via Sales and Orders, and other sales apps. I find BigCommerce to be very flexible with integration, although sometimes it's difficult to force BC to accept certain scripts since it only allows them in one place and most 3-rd party apps have specific pages they wish to run on.
BigCommerce is much better than Volusion, although we are also paying a lot more for it so it may not be a fair fight. BigCommerce offers much better product catalog management and marketing options.
If you are a successful company who can afford $1000 a month, then I would definitely recommend BC Enterprise. Obviously, this is a small subset of stores, but it's worth it for the separate IP address, HTTPS options, and advanced SEO functionality. The lower tiers of BC are also good; we used them in the past when we could not yet afford Enterprise.

Using BigCommerce

6 - Everyone in my company uses BigCommerce except the boss. My shipper uses it to check what needs to ship; my customer service reps use it to verify that orders in NetSuite are 100% correct, and my assistant and I use it daily for product management and marketing purposes.
1 - I am the only person who can fix anything in BigCommerce if it breaks. We are a small organization and most people do not have web skills.
  • 50% of our sales come through our BigCommerce store.
  • BigCommerce offers integration with important payment methods and apps
  • BigCommerce offers integration with our email provider
  • Connecting BigCommerce to our NetSuite ERP has been essential in streamlining our business. We do it indirectly through a 3-rd Party app called FarApp.
  • BigCommerce works well with Sales & Orders to keep us active on Google products / AdWords
  • BigCommerce can use photo URLs from other sites for our products, which is nice since we are a reseller.
  • We will keep doing what we are doing... growing and expanding our product line.
  • Hopefully we will use "price lists" to allow distributors to buy online.
We are almost entirely satisfied with BigCommerce. They make things easy for us, have minimal issues, and have great performance. I have used more than 5 systems and will not switch unless something goes terribly wrong, because they are the best by a landslide.
