Overall Satisfaction with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT

As an educational fundraiser, I use Raiser's Edge NEXT to manage my workflow, which is heavily focused on prospect (alumni) relationships. I use it to track completed tasks, generate future task reminders, identify new prospects and manage my portfolio of approximately 125 prospects.


  • Utilize geographic tools to assist in outreach around travel.
  • Loads at a high speed, increasing productivity.
  • Simplifies the user experience.
  • Generate lists from different cross sections of data.


  • Sync to LinkedIn to streamline prospect business information.
  • Provide more data points/columns in "lists".
  • Add fiscal year to gift data.
  • Send more direct updates when assigned prospects make a gift, like automatic reminders to send a thank you note.
  • Utilize research data to help gift officers identify areas of donor affinity (in addition to capacity).
  • Allow more end users to update & change data.
  • Alert users when data has been entered with typos, or when an address entered is not valid.
  • Include all data from a record, not just the most recent/or a limited number of data points (such as full gift/action history) so that users don't have to go to classic Raiser's Edge for older data.
  • Providing clean, accurate data in a visibly appealing and easy to understand way.
  • Ensuring efforts across the office are not being duplicated.
  • Easy mining for new prospects by class, location, gift, etc.
  • Time savings is the biggest ROI.
  • Having access to NXT from anywhere at anytime via the internet.
  • Less need for continual database training, due to ease of product use.
The ability to create future actions has helped keep fundraising work on track, and ensure nothing slips through the cracks. The ability to add a prospect photo has also helped with relationship building and helping to remember the names of prospects.
The training made it easier to use Raiser's Edge NXT, but there are still some areas where I do not feel 100% confident.

When a gift officer is traveling to a specific location and wants to augment their trip with visits to unassigned prospects, the map feature is great at identifying discovery or engagement prospects in that area. Outreach is also easily done from that list, as you can easily click into the record. Also, when reaching out to a prospect, it is easy to record that outreach through the Raiser's Edge NXT button that syncs with Outlook, which saves time. (However, does not automatically add the constituent email used). Where it doesn't work as well is for gift entry or highly detailed gift entry or data extraction.
