Overall Satisfaction with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT

We use Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT daily at our school as a donor, parent, alumni, and friends database. We track gifts, and notes about constituents, and use them for email and mass mailings. The webview is helpful for our solicitors to know about constituents' past giving and when to reach out. We can query for specific information to group people or organizations.
  • The webview is easy to use on mobile when on a donor visit.
  • The webview map feature is helpful for narrowing a list down by location.
  • The webview Work Center gives you suggestions of who to follow up with based on your tags or who is on your solicitation list.
  • In my experience, the webview is not fully functional or even useful for database managers, and almost all data work should be done in the ancient database view.
  • In my experience, the database is slow or crashes or comes back with error messages a lot.
  • Things are named differently in the database view and the webview making it difficult to explain what you're talking about.
  • In my experience, Blackbaud's chat help doesn't know as much as actual Raiser's Edge users, and I'm usually just referred to a Knowledgebase article (which I already found myself and tried).
  • They took away functionality in Mail with no replacement process. Now things just take longer.
  • It's a very expensive product, but still has many issues and not great support. Most users put up with it because it's also too expensive and time consuming to jump ship.

  • The webview works well on mobile devices and saves time on donor visits.
We can do Wealth Screenings to get giving information about specific donors. I wish we could run screening on more people for the cost we pay for the service. More support would be welcome to know how to utilize their analytics options. We feel like Raiser's Edge can do more but don't know what we're missing.

The online training was done pretty well. A lot of them covered things I had learned on my own already, but some classes you needed before you could sign up for a harder class.

If someone is looking to start or move to Raiser's Edge, in my opinion, I'd avoid it and find something cheaper with better support. The webview works fairly well for solicitors but is useless to database managers who have to use the database view which is very complicated and has a long learning curve. Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT doesn't seem to care about what its users actually want and how they really use the product.
