Overall Satisfaction with BlackLine

The accounting and tax departments are using BlackLine to manage close checklists: month-end, quarter-end, SOX checklists, etc. Accounting and tax are also completing all reconciliations in BlackLine.
  • Visibility into the close status; the right data is collected within the different modules to provide the correct insight into the Dashboard and Reporting functionality.
  • Standardization and best practices for account reconciliation preparation.
  • Continual innovation with the product to improve and move with the customers/industry challenges.
  • There are some missing pieces with automation opportunities when it comes to account rules or auto-grouping rules. Required fields for account recs are not available to run rules on.
  • Improvements to be made to the ease of use with account recs - So many different places to click, drill in to.
  • More import opportunities - Mass import accruals, etc.
  • Account reconciliation automation.
  • Visibility into the month-end close process - Ability to identify the bottlenecks.
  • Sparked the imagination of the accounting team to think about additional opportunities for automation and process improvements.

We are on this accounting transformation journey for the long-haul and we need a business partner that is committed to finding solutions to our problems - Including our problems today and our problems next year. BlackLine has a deep support team and an extensive online training resource that assists with onboarding.

BlackLine can support clients of all sizes and accounting teams of all sizes. But the company needs to be invested in ongoing process improvements to make the implementation effort worth it. I think any client can benefit from this product. Support is needed from the top down to assist in change management. Assistance from the IT department is needed.
