Overall Satisfaction with Box

At our firm, Box is being used as a cloud based file sharing system between various groups within our company and outside of the company on numerous projects. Our attorneys, legal assistants, accounting, and etc can share legal documents with outside firms and customers while meeting HIPAA requirements and privacy compliances.
  • Box gives our company total control over the materials shared and used within the system by allowing us to dictate who and what groups can access files and folders.
  • Box also allows for us to invite contributors within our organization as well as outside of our organization to collaborate on projects and documents.
  • Also, while securely holding our documents in the cloud we are additionally able to report on user user statistics on our network which include both users in the firm and outside contributors.
  • One of the biggest areas of improvement is on the administrator side with how invited collaborators are thrown into the system. Currently if an employee is invited to join Box they are automatically added as Enterprise users which takes up a license. The down fall of this is anyone can invite a user as a collaborator and this bypasses the administrator as the one to add in users to paid license accounts. If someone gets a little invite crazy you can easily burn through a lot of paid license user accounts in a matter of hours.
  • Box has greatly improved on the efficiency of projects and client related matters with its ease of use and cloud based interface. Files and documents are shared with little to no effort nor is there much of a training curve for the users.
  • Dropbox,Google Drive
From a user standpoint Box is on par with both Dropbox and Google Drive or Google Documents as far as individual use, uploading and editing documents. I find Box to be fairly equal to Dropbox in sharing and adding collaborators to files and documents and easier to use in that aspect than Google Drive. On the administrator side I cannot attest to Dropbox since I've never administered that system and Google Drive is fairly much DIY making it limited to adhering to a company standard. In that sense Box would be superior.
As I've stated Box is very easy to use and to set up. The documentation provided by Box is easy to follow and the interface is designed in a way that makes sense. With only a few limitations on the administrator side the system is fully capable to get the job done for our company.
If you're in need of a cloud based and secure file sharing or file storage system then Box is for you. With virtually unlimited storage for enterprise users, the branding customization, ease of use, and mobile and desktop friendliness of this system - it's a home run. As a law firm, Box is complaint with all privacy stipulations as well.

Evaluating Box and Competitors

  • Price
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
  • Vendor Reputation
  • Positive Sales Experience with the Vendor
  • Analyst Reports
The most important factor in our decision to use Box was that it made sense for us to use it. It delivered on a need we had with great support that met our technical and legal requirements at a competitive price.
I would not change anything in the selection process if I had to do it again.

Box Support

Box support is extremely helpful and you can tell they generally care about your question as they work hard to resolve it as soon and as best as possible.
ProsCons
Quick Resolution
Good followup
Knowledgeable team
Problems get solved
No escalation required
Immediate help available
Support cares about my success
Need to explain problems multiple times
Yes - The availability of a personalized support contact is invaluable and has come in handy on more than one occasion. Also, having a name and number to someone gives the whole process a more humanized experience and I feel they try harder to accommodate our needs and value our success with their product.
Fortunately we have not yet to really need Box support however they have been very helpful with the implementation and deployment of the service in our company.
