Overall Satisfaction with Canvas
Many departments across our university are using Canvas. Canvas is used by our faculty to communicate and interface with students i.e inputting student grades. Students interface with Canvas to find information about their classes and courses.
- Grade reporting: easy for students to find their grades once posted.
- Analytics on student interaction: now we can view the analytics around how students are interacting with the application and find ways to better serve our students
- Custom notification for course updates: now we are able to create custom notifications for our students when an update is made to a course.
- Mobile app: the mobile app has been a revelation. Now, students can access their course material from anywhere they are.
- Native integration with third-party applications i.e: Zendesk, Salesforce
- Sometimes you have to click through many features before you get to what you are really looking for
- There is no simple way to add one-sentence reading assignments to a calendar
- Reduced the amount of time it takes faculty to post grades
- Helps faculty better communicate to students about their courses
- Helps students find all course material in one central place
- Easily accessible to students regardless of where they are since it's a web-based application so they can access their course content/info even during semester breaks when they are off campus.
The Canvas interface is easier for students to use and navigate. It is also cleaner so students enjoy using the tool more than Sakai. Canvas was easier for our IT department to implement. Training faculty on how to use Canvas was easier than Sakai. The analytics in Canvas are more robust than in Sakai.
