Overall Satisfaction with Ceridian Dayforce
We use Dayforce for payroll, time and attendance, HR and benefits. It is being used across our entire organization. Dayforce allows us to manage key information affecting payroll (time and benefits mainly) within the same application that processes payroll, which is more efficient for us than legacy providers.
- Integrated HR and Payroll solution - everything about an employee that impacts their pay check can be maintained in one place, and payroll calculates correctly based on their record.
- Manage workforce in one place - the software has the ability to track any HR information that is needed, along with time, benefits, pay, etc. for each employee.
- Payroll processing - as a one-stop solution, the payroll process is simplified and is simply the output of data from the HR record and timesheet.
- It can be difficult to tailor settings to our exact company policies and needs - e.g. programming specific facets of vacation policy, attendance policy.
- Support is responsive, but sometimes lacks expertise or understanding of our structure (particularly because every Dayforce implementation is customized).
- Security by roles - assigning roles to users determines what data they have access to, but there is not a good way to allow one user different levels of access to different groups of employees.
- With Dayforce time and attendance, we are now better able to monitor employee timesheets and have improved the rigor of our time policies. This has required increased effort by those reviewing timesheets, but increased effectiveness in controlling for errors and abuse.
- We have reduced the time required to process payroll each cycle, but overall have increased time dedicated by IT and administration resources to system and record maintenance.
- System changes have been somewhat difficult to manage - design work tends to exceed quoted cost and time, as the system is highly customized for each client.
Dayforce has eased the burden on our organzation related to state and federal tax withholding. The preparation of year-end forms has required some review and manual edits, but has overall been an improvement. Overtime and benefits eligibility are able to be programmed so that they are automatically determined. Tracking FMLA has been an improvement as well.
Hiring, scheduling and compensation decisions are made outside of Dayforce, although reporting tools may be used to inform those decisions. Dayforce has had no significant impact on HCM decisions for our organization.
Having all HR, payroll, time and benefits in a single application has been an improvement over legacy software solutions for us. The ability to calculate payroll in real time, to correct issues at the source and immediately recalculate the payroll, and other features are the real selling point for Dayforce.

2 - Programming skills are required for internal Dayforce support. Reporting is SQL-based, so user mileage will vary based on their understanding and willingness to learn.

Evaluating Ceridian Dayforce HCM and Competitors
Yes - ADP and Kronos were replaced, due to our desire for better integration and depth from a full HR system.
- Price
- Product Features
- Product Usability
- Product Reputation
The right product features for our organization were a must.
I don't believe we would change the evaluation and selection process. We would devote more time and resources to the implementation process, especially the workbook that defines all structures and policies that will govern the system set-up.
Ceridian Dayforce HCM Implementation
- Company-Specific Policies Not Implemented Correctly
Ceridian Dayforce HCM Support
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Problems get solved Kept well informed Immediate help available Support cares about my success Quick Initial Response | Slow Resolution Poor followup Need to explain problems multiple times |
Yes - Bugs are sometimes resolved timely and satisfactorily, and sometimes they are slow to fix. Each client system is a custom implementation so it can be difficult for support personnel to be familiar with all aspects of our environment.
At one point, we were having issues with our vacation entitlements in Dayforce. Support was responsive and we were matched with an entitlements expert who helped develop and test a resolution to the issue.

Yes - For simplistic functions, which (in my opinion) are all you should be performing on a mobile device, it is a simple and intuitive structure. We don't attempt to use any advanced mobile features.
