Overall Satisfaction with Ceridian Dayforce

We have implemented Dayforce to be used for Recruiting, onboarding, storing employee info and payroll. We primarily chose this product because we needed payroll in Canada and the US. Formerly we were using BambooHR as an HRIS and JazzHR for Recruitment, and just did Payroll thru Dayforce. We wanted to consolidate and just use one product, and Ceridian was the only provider that could do multi-country payroll.
  • Offering payroll in different countries
  • Providing a comprehensive product
  • In my opinion, the interface is one of the worst I’ve ever used. I believe it is not intuitive AT ALL, even trying to run a report requires either detailed worksheets or going through FAQs, for simple reports. While this is only listed as one item, it affects you every time you access the system.
  • Recruiting tool is very cumbersome and difficult to view/access information
  • Decreased employee satisfaction, more frustration in the ranks because employees have less access to data
  • More efficiency in payroll processing
  • Reduced expenses in having only one HRIS
We’ve ensured that benefits enrollment is more efficient and we have less mistakes in the enrollment process.
While it is one central repository for all the data, I think the user interface and reporting are so complicated that we still don’t feel we have a good handle on data analysis. We would like to see enhanced reports and data mining.
It does make the process of tracking time off and integrating that into the payroll process much easier and less time consuming.

Do you think Dayforce delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with Dayforce's feature set?

No

Did Dayforce live up to sales and marketing promises?

No

Did implementation of Dayforce go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Dayforce again?

No

The only scenario in which I would recommend the product is if you have to have multi-country payroll, and want an all-in-one system. I’ve used other systems that were light years ahead in creating a user interface that is intuitive and easy to use for the staff. Moving to Dayforce felt like stepping back 10 years technology wise.

Using Ceridian Dayforce

500 - Everyone in the company uses Dayforce to access their payroll records and to request time off. The HR department uses it to manage employee records and for recruitment/on-boarding. Managers access it for accessing information about their staff, like time off available, emergency contact info, and also looking at applicants for their open positions. New employees use Dayforce to fill out forms, and access benefits information.
5 - The HR team provides our in-house support for Dayforce. They have developed some internal training documents that managers and employees can use to help with common tasks that have to be performed in Dayforce. While you don’t have to be highly technical to use or support Dayforce, my experience has been that the user interface is not intuitive AT ALL, so people need help doing basic tasks like running reports or requesting time off if they don’t do them frequently. So experience documenting tasks in easy to follow instructions would be helpful.
  • Need for multi-country payroll (US/Canada)
  • Consolidated payroll/HRIS/applicant tracking system
  • We had a need to contact all employees in an emergency situation and we couldn’t use email… we were able to send a text message blast out to all employees’ cell phones at one time. This was a great feature during a crisis.
  • We are migrating all of our HR documentation/manuals/policies into Dayforce so there’s one repository for all things HR for our company.
They are one of the only companies offering consolidated payroll for both the US and Canada, making it easy for us to pay our employees. We’ve also invested a lot of time in migrating everything into the program, wouldn’t make sense to switch at this point. But no one who has to use it really likes the functionality, it is so cumbersome to use it causes a lot of frustration. I wish they would work on the UI.

Evaluating Ceridian Dayforce and Competitors

Yes - BambooHR and JazzHR. We used BambooHR in the US, and it was the easiest program to use. You didn’t really need any training because it was so intuitive, and had a ton of great features. The only thing it couldn’t do was the multi-country payroll so we couldn’t continue with it. Made me very sad to lose it. JazzHR was used for our recruiting, and again the user interface and functionality was so much better than Dayforce. It allowed for great workflows, easy communication between recruiter and hiring manager and candidate. But because it wasn’t a one stop shop for HR/payroll and recruiting for us, they went with Dayforce.
  • Other
Multi country payroll - ability to pay employees in both US and Canada - was the most important factor in our decision.
We wouldn’t really change anything.

Using Ceridian Dayforce

I’ve already covered this in other questions, but the user interface is not intuitive at all. You have to hunt and search to complete simple tasks, and need instructions to get to information instead of just being able to find simple things.
ProsCons
Technical support not required
Well integrated
Do not like to use
Unnecessarily complex
Difficult to use
Slow to learn
Cumbersome
Feel nervous using
Lots to learn
  • None. Even something as simple as running a report I have to refer to notes because it’s so counterintuitive. I work in software, I’ve never encountered anything this difficult to use before
  • Finding info about your employees
  • Running reports
  • Requesting time off
  • Workflows on recruiting
Yes - Works pretty well, but doesn’t offer many features. You can request time off and view pay stubs.
