Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (Cisco ACI)

It's mainly used in our Data Centers, together with our Internet Service Provider Partner who mainly manages our network, along with other customers.

Cisco ACI is used for the whole organization, and mainly by the IT department. It helps and solves SDN issues and hindrances which eases our deployments of services.

The main reason for doing so, as from the technical discussions, was mainly for stability and centralized management, along with the new security features that it offers.
  • Easier data center "segmentation"
  • Centralized Management
  • Well-suited for Automation
  • GUI refresh
  • Better compatibility with VM's
  • Dependency
  • + Easier Manageability and Visibility
  • + Scalability
  • - Steep learning curve
We did not test alternatives, as this is the only software solution that had deployed for this type of service. It was due to the fact that our current platform and data center are composed of this vendor's hardware and techonology, and we wanted the ease in integration to this application.

Would you buy Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (Cisco ACI) again?

ACI is best suited for running your own cloud infrastructure and data center management. It is extremely competent in handling data center networking tasks (as an umbrella explanation), from load balancers to firewalls and so on.

It also allows your to spread your applications for multiple and vast locations, whilst maintaining a centralized point of control.

Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (Cisco ACI) Support

Application and service support, in times where we needed consulation, were superb. Issues were mainly due to familiarity of our Senior Engineers with this new tool or application, and the uncertainties were clearly explained by the Support Team. All the while, an "unofficial" training, so to speak, was also provided during the implementation phase - but it's most likely due to the technical person that was assigned to us and how his approach was in terms of assisting.
