Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Switches

The Cisco Catalyst 2960-X/XR Series Switch used by our company are the 24 and 48-port models with power over ethernet capability and are being used as an access topology to connect the company's computers, access points, and phones. Our building has 6 floors and on each one, we have 2 Cisco 2960X switches installed in a 19U rack. The switch delivers optimal power, performance, and Layer 2 and 3 networking capabilities to enhance user access and security. Our team performed the configuration of one unit and replicated the configuration in the others, it's easy and fast.

  • Power over ethernet on all access ports.
  • Uplinks at 10Gbps.
  • Works with Cisco DNA management software.
  • Saves a lot of energy.
  • It has no unlimited warranty.
  • The documentation is entirely in English. There are no other languages.
  • Segmentation of networks with layer 2 vlan.
  • Better network security.
  • I don't see any negative impact on this switch.
The switch is technological and delivers exceptional performance to our network. We use access topology and connect all access devices like PCs and wifi hotspots. We use Cisco DNA management to improve the monitoring and management service.
Management can be via WEB, CLI, and Cisco management software. It's all easy and intuitive. The CLI is the same as many years ago and very familiar to all IT professionals. The web interface helps beginners to configure the equipment.

The most appropriate scenario for Cisco Catalyst 2960-X/XR Series Switches is access topology and also in distribution as it has layer 2 and 3 network capability to route VLANs and creates static routes. We use the VLANs feature a lot and segment our network by department to improve broadcast traffic and security of the corporate internal network.
