Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Switches

We use this model of a Cisco switch to provide data services to all of the county's edge networks delivering services to staff and public. Multiple business objectives are met and leveraged with this technology use. An example would be at our bus terminals delivering WiFI solutions to the public and county staff with a backbone using this model of a Cisco switch.
  • Scale. They have the ability to be stacked.
  • Reliable hardware. Hardware never fails.
  • Reliable for real time applications such as collaboration and Wireless VoIP (wVoIP).
  • Cost
  • The cost is high but these switches never fail. You get what you pay for.
My organization has not benefited specifically for the above capabilities.
These devices are easy to manage. We manage them via command line as we do all other Cisco catalyst switches.
Our whole network fleet is Cisco. We use Catalyst 3560, 3750, 3650 and 3850 switch models. We also use Nexus switches 9300 for our data center. We have not used commodity type switches to pilot the cost savings against CISCO but do plan on that in the future.
When you need to provide dense connections to clients this model of switch is stackable and makes for great networking scalability.
