Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Switches

We are using a stack of two Cisco Catalyst 6807 Switches as our main data center core switches. These things are big and beefy, with tons of ports and plenty of room for expansion. These things are great to efficiently move traffic throughout the network, with plenty of room to spare.

We have not used any of these features of the switches, as we don't feel that we are a big enough shop to start using them.
We have benefitted from the advanced manageability, as we are not a huge shop with not many network engineers. These are very easy to manage because it's essentially the same as managing any other Cisco device. We enjoy the number of ports that are available and how well the operating system is laid out.
We wanted to remain a Cisco shop, so we really only evaluated using Cisco Catalyst 3850 Switches. We've used the 3850s in other data centers previously, but for this new data center, we really wanted to make sure we were future-proofing as much as we could, and wanted the extra space to expand if necessary.

Do you think Cisco Catalyst Switches delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Cisco Catalyst Switches's feature set?

Yes

Did Cisco Catalyst Switches live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Cisco Catalyst Switches go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Cisco Catalyst Switches again?

Yes

These are well suited for normal network traffic throughout a campus. They can handle the bigger workloads but can also be used for medium-sized ones as well. We have about 20 switches and routers hooked into it, as well as around 300 end-user devices that all aggregate at these switches and have never had any issues. I don't think they would be appropriate for the smaller scale business with fewer than 100 end-user devices
