We use the 6880s as our aggregation switches for our 10GB fiber ring for our NY locations. We have 5 locations connected by dark fiber. We have dual 6880s for redundancy.

We implemented VSS on our switches to turn them into one logical switch, which gave us needed redundancy and reliability.
We used the advanced customization features to create a VSS between our dual Catalyst 6880s. This provided streamlined administration and monitoring.
We didn't look at another vendor. I've been using Cisco Switches for over 20 years. They have never disappointed or let me down. One of my first Directors told me, "no one gets fired for buying Cisco products". 20+ years later, that statement still rings true.

We need to be able to stack switches in closets that require more ports, the switches need to support PoE, Power Sharing, link redundancy and stackability. Ease of use is alwasy a plus as well.
