Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst 9100 Access Points

Several of my clients use the Cisco Catalyst 9120 Access Point and all of them love it. Being the client's outsourced IT company, we are responsible for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, configuration, etc. They are very reliable, can be mounted anywhere, and give a good solid connection.
  • First off, the overall physical design. Slim, light, and can be mounted anywhere. Blends into ceilings/walls and is easy to mount. (Clients are very picky with overall look sometimes).
  • Easy to deploy and configure, making the setup very quick, minimizing any potential downtime during installation and/or maintenance upgrades.
  • Fast and reliable at a decent price point for the clients.
  • From the tech side, there are no issues that I have ran into as of yet with these APs.

Yes

  • Solid connectivity for clients and their vendors.
  • Ability to grant guest access for several different client scenarios.
  • High level of security.
When comparing access points, the main ingredient for me is speed & reliability. Clients often have very large spaces, they are moving through during the day, and having the solid reliability to move between APs without losing connection is very important. For others, the Zoom conferences that are happening currently are often on mobile devices, so they need strong & reliable APs.
Price point is always a factor, these are a good option for those that have the need for the more beefy equipment, that can handle the high volume at a reasonable cost. The installation and configuration are very easy and quick to deploy into the existing network. I would say for our smaller to very tiny clients we wouldn't suggest this particular model, as it is designed for more of a heavy to high volume situations.
