Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst 9200 Series Switches

  • Catalyst 2960 X/XR Series
  • Catalyst 9200 Series
We use 2960XR and [Cisco Catalyst 9200] Series Switches on the access layer and never had any problems. Almost all access ports on switches are running Data and Voice vlans and we never had any STP/Trunking/Conflicts issues with the switches.
  • Enhanced STP Experience
  • Reliable all year long, no weird port issues or power issues all POE switches always perform
  • Advance routing features if you want to use switch as layer 3 devices
  • Price and smartnet support cost
  • License base works great. Might be a good idea to bundle more services. LANbase and IPbase can be concluded. (IMO)
  • We use NFR so not really an impact. Being a Cisco shop we dont have any serious problems with ROI
  • Customers love Cisco Catalyst switches as they perform great and capable of all fulfilling all customer needs. A single switch can perform as router/switch/poe/trunks/multicast (For overhead paging. school bell system etc.)
  • With frequent IOS upgrades always ready to support day 1/ 0 day equipment. ROI impact is very positive.
We are using features such as bandwidth per stack (this can go up to 160 GBPS)
Flexible Netflow, Programmability (SD-Access & Model-Driven)
Policy-based automation (DNA)
N/A
As being a MSP we tend to use custom scripts and implement them as needed. We do not use any customizations or scripting on any of our switches that are shared with customers.
For in-house 92k switches we use full automation, customization along with other features that this switch offers (like MACsec encryption and segmentation, UADP ASIC programmability )
Simple, easy to program. Works with web UI.
Provisioning through DNA
FRU and PoE
up to 160 GBS Stacking bandwidth
Cost effective
High performance

Cisco [Catalyst 9200 Series] Switches work great. Most enterprises use cisco office equipment (Phones, Cameras etc. ), and switches work seamlessly with these products. Always full throughput on all ports, rarely any STP issues.

Not well suited for small businesses (Costly) or in scenarios where network devices are not uniform/ multi vendor
