Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst 9200 Series Switches

We rolled out new Cisco Catalyst 9200 Series Switches to all of our closets within the building--22 of them. This gives us ample speed, and the PoE is great for the IP phone system.
  • Switch
  • Speed of backbone
  • Reliabilty--configure them and never touch them again
  • Ease of use--configuring these is a breeze
  • Price is a little steep
  • Not particularly fond of the inability to resell equipment when upgrading
  • Cisco Catalyst 9200 Series Switches do not allow BGP, which is a real bummer
  • I think the uptime helps the ROI
  • Reliability and the lifetime warranty are extremely helpful
Not really using them for that--we use them as closet switches.
We have not configured our switches to do anything special other than carry data back to the core, which then takes care of it.

I find that all Cisco switches to be extremely well made (albeit in China) and reliable. We went from Cisco Catalyst 3750 Series Switches to Cisco Catalyst 9200 Series Switches, and we ran the 3750s for 10 years. In that time I think I replaced four out of 22.
