Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst 9800 Series Wireless Controllers

BC systems is a 60 employee company and the Cisco Catalyst 9800-40 Wireless Controller meets all of our wireless requirements. This controller provides fast data transfer over a reliable wireless connection. We formerly used Linksys wireless and have found the upgrade to Cisco to be long overdue. We have not experienced any significant issues with the hardware. The module was relatively easy to configure, and we were up and running in a few hours.

  • Price of the hardware and licensing usually has room for improvement.
  • In the short time this hardware has been in place we have seen a marked improvement in productivity.

No other Cisco products have been integrated with the Catalyst 9800-40 Wireless Controller at this time.
We have not had any issues with the Wireless controller. Our last system had consistent down time and intermittent dropout. The controllers ability to handle all of our traffic is impressive and a welcome improvement over our previous system. Our initial investment has already been recovered in reliable service and improved company wide throughput.
I can not say much more about its availability and reliability. We have not seen any downtime or interruptions due to the controller. I am happy with our purchase and it is performing above my expectations. I will be adding additional hardware to the network and I anticipate it being a Cisco product.
The interface is user friendly and intuitive which made it easy to get up and running in a few hours. I was not difficult to enable similar policies we deployed in our last system, and additionally increase our level of control within the network. The level of detail the Cisco controller allows when configuring policies is greater than I have observed in competitors products.
We original worked with a Linksys based wireless system. Cisco improved our network reliability and speed which were the key reasons we upgraded our hardware in the first place. It appears that Cisco is better suited in a Business environment than its competitors are. I look forward to completing the network and to see it fully functional.
The Cisco Catalyst 9800-40 [Wireless] Controller is able to handle all of our wireless needs with only some minor support hardware. We were looking for a higher level of service that we could have gotten with Linksys. I am very happy that we went with Cisco, the improvement has made my work more efficient.
