We use these switches out in the field at our many oil/gas terminals. They are used to connect the network into places where we dont have a building, rather just a cabinet.

It is very simple and easy to use. PnP the device, apply the configuration, provision it and make a few changes, then out the door it goes.
VLAN segmentation and it is important for different devices used to be in separated VLANs. Cameras never need to be with a PLC.
They allow for more custimization. We use the 3100s because they are cheaper, but the 3300's are nice because they allow for more and different port density.
