Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst 9300 Series Switches

We use the 9000 series for ACI and SDN. That forms our core network.
  • SDN for the 9000 series.
  • Large administration base
  • Industry standard
  • Needs more constant innovation
  • Cost
  • Easy SDN migration path
  • Native Cisco DNA
The 9300 is really only comparable to the new Aruba 8400. The size and soft cost of going with 2 networking vendors Ifwas not worth the savings in dollars. Maybe if you were an HPE shop and had a Cisco core switch, this would make sense for the same reasons we chose Cisco.
With the 9000 series the SDN possibility is endless.

Evaluating Cisco Catalyst 9300 Series Switches and Competitors

I would love to visit a VAR that was as neutral as Switzerland to evaluate the features and cost with various switching gear. If we had to start fresh and I do mean true greenfield- this would have been a good route. Often though you are dealing with a Vendor strategy that existed well before most of us started at our companies.

Cisco Catalyst 9300 Series Switches Training

  • In-person training
  • Self-taught
Cisco Networking Academy partners with many local Colleges and High Schools to provide great hands-on training. You do need to drive to learn the topic. The in-class session only go so far. You really need to apply this to the real world. Cisco makes it easy for business to connect via CLC or Cisco Learning Credits.
9300 switch can be self taught if you have solid foundation of Cisco Knowledge. Otherwise, I don't recommend winging it if this is a brand new deployment.
