Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Switches

  • Catalyst 2960-L Series
  • Catalyst 3560-CX Series
  • Catalyst 3850 Series
We used them for all of our edge switches at retail locations and manufacturing locations.
  • Extremely long uptime
  • Rarely have hardware failures
  • Solid software
  • Early development code can be full of bugs
  • Easy to manage
  • No need to stay up at night worrying about them
We did not implement automation or analytics when using them.
We used these switches with a call manager implementation. We were able to VLAN off different segments on the switch to separate our Voice and Data traffic.
Cisco has been around much longer than other switching companies. You can always trust they will be solid and run forever.
A Cisco Catalyst Switch can be used in any environment. If you want long up time and need a managed switch it is the perfect fit. If an unmanaged switch is needed for a small office, a Catalyst switch would be a bit overkill.
