Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Switches

  • Catalyst 2960-L Series
  • Catalyst 9200 Series
We mostly use Cisco Catalyst as access layer switches when we want to cut some cost out but still have Cisco reliability and integrate with the Cisco Meraki environment we have on site.
It is easy to integrate and link Meraki along with Catalyst line and have a steady and stable experience on the network compared to using other vendors hardware.
  • Reliable
  • Stable
  • Integrate
  • Initial setup
  • Single pane of glass management
  • Console needs improvement as commands don't always work well
  • Money saving
  • Great ROI
We have benefitted, but sometimes the commands are hard to get pushed over using the built in web configuration, so we still end up resorting over to cmdline console options using SSH as that is always more consistent. We are looking to see which models will integrate with Cisco Meraki, as we already have that and want to deploy both.
Cisco is still easy enough to configure, with options in both console as well as web to get set up and deploy. Experience is almost always the same, unless some commands have been updated or added to the OS, but it's still always consist which is great.

Yes

Are you happy with Cisco Catalyst Switches's feature set?

Yes

Did Cisco Catalyst Switches live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Cisco Catalyst Switches go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Cisco Catalyst Switches again?

Yes

They work really well most of the time if you want to use them in the access layer. We used them for PoE/VoIP deployments and they always seem to work really well, from lower 29** series all the way up to and including the 92** series we have purchased and deployed enterprise-wide at this point.
