Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Ethernet Switches

We use Cisco Ethernet Switches exclusively across the organization, we use it for our core switches, routers and all outlying switches. We have 1 GB, 10 GB and 40 GB network connections and they all interconnect very easily and the ease of management is superb.
  • Network connections at all different speeds
  • Multiple VLAN management with ease
  • Reliable. Many switches are in outside weatherproof boxes and they withstand extreme high and low temperatures of Chicago.
  • Many different IOS versions, need to be simplified
  • Not a fan of the new licensing feature. Can be expensive.
  • Web GUI interface could use improvement
  • Network monitoring and reporting
  • Network mapping
  • Logging for network changes
  • Ease of management. All Cisco equipment makes life easier than intermixing with alternate options
  • Licensing costs are expensive for core catalyst switches.
Cisco is by far the superior of all switches I have used. I would recommend them as the learning curve is very low and dependability is extremely high.
