Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Ethernet Switches
We use Cisco Ethernet Switches exclusively across the organization, we use it for our core switches, routers and all outlying switches. We have 1 GB, 10 GB and 40 GB network connections and they all interconnect very easily and the ease of management is superb.
- Network connections at all different speeds
- Multiple VLAN management with ease
- Reliable. Many switches are in outside weatherproof boxes and they withstand extreme high and low temperatures of Chicago.
- Many different IOS versions, need to be simplified
- Not a fan of the new licensing feature. Can be expensive.
- Web GUI interface could use improvement
- Network monitoring and reporting
- Network mapping
- Logging for network changes
- Ease of management. All Cisco equipment makes life easier than intermixing with alternate options
- Licensing costs are expensive for core catalyst switches.
Cisco is by far the superior of all switches I have used. I would recommend them as the learning curve is very low and dependability is extremely high.
