Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Firepower 1000 Series

The Firepower 1010 device helps our client to who is a small scale NGO. Firepower acts as primary security along with the ASA firewall. This is highly compatible with a small industry or a branch just like our client for who we are providing network and security support. It performs really well in load balancing the firewall environment.

  • Can't recommend it for a medium or large enterprise.
  • A bit more expensive than competitors at the same price point.
  • Need simple UI like FortiGate.

The Firepower overall tool management is simple, it's simple and friendly UI gives new users some idea. But for a small industry such as our NGO client, Firepower works really well and the customer support is excellent. I would strongly suggest small scale businesses go with Firepower as the primary security.
The threat detection capability performance is excellent with the support of Cisco Threat Intel. It supports lots of policies to filter and acts as primary firewall in the environment. The Firepower handles high bandwidth and high availability in an excellent way, which is a notable feature. The VPN connectivity count is less, I would say, it needs to increase the VPN user connectivity count.
There is no issue with Cisco Customer support. My personal experience is when we had an issue integrating a DB server with SIEM setup. We faced reachability issues from the remote site. We had a support person from Cisco and the calm way he handled and identified the issue in the critical situation was really nice and later provided proper RCA.
Not at the host level, but at network-level, Firepower is a great product for small scale businesses and the logging capability is excellent. The resource's accessibility for understanding the event type and support is well. Firepower is not a competitor for FortiGate. Firepower 1010 is cost-effective and suited for load balancing in an excellent way.
The Firepower threat feed capability to detect the malware paten in the network works really well, the auto-update will be the plus point that helps to keep the paten up-to-date for detection. The logging capability is a major feature that helps our SOC team to detect the threats and even filter the unwanted log entries to save process and storage in SIEM.
