Overall Satisfaction with Cisco IPS Sensor

We use Cico IPS Sensor for the LAN and DMZ and in between a firewall sandwich. In parallel, we use it in the customer zone when the customer buys the service. This means that we are selling it as managed IDS service. At the moment, we have no customers who want to use active IPS because of the risk to drop the necessary data.
  • Detects threats
  • Included in other Cisco tools
  • Feeds for automatic actualization
  • Installation is not very easy with ACI
  • Customizing needed to reduce false positives
  • Recognize virus outbreaks.
  • Find unauthorized administrative traffic.
  • Customization needs to be done to reach your objective.
HP and Fortinet were in the PoC, too, but we decided to use Cisco IPS because it integrated with the rest of our Cisco equipment better. It was well integrated in the ACI datacenter, too. Performance and actual integration work with Cisco. Most of the workers at our company are familiar with Cisco.
Cisco offers good and standardized hardware in many performance classes. Talos is good in actual feeds and at working together with other security departments. IPS Sensor integrates well with all Cisco hardware and tools. The best option is to add StealthWatch for a good overview. It's easy to deploy and manage over zones.
