Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Cisco Jabber is being used across the whole organization. Jabber allows us to collaborate in an efficient way: text messaging, presence and call status information, calling (audio and video), and screen sharing. We use it inside the local network and also outside, from home and Internet locations through the deployment of expressways servers.

Pros and Cons

Great app for calling without having a desk phone.
When outside the company, Jabber behaves like it is inside the network (without any VPN configured).
Screen sharing is possible when on a call.

There is a need for people to take control over remote screens.
Jabber needs to improve resiliency when a server is down.

Return on Investment

ROI is good as we have no longer costs for hardware phones nor support contracts.

It is less appropriate when companies are looking at migrating all their applications to the cloud, and in this case, Cisco Webex Teams will be the most appropriate.
