Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Jabber

Cisco Jabber is an amazing product that integrates well with our Cisco Telephony system, namely the Cisco Unified Communication Manager. Given the current Covid pandemic, Cisco Jabber has been used intensively at our company, and it does the job spectacularly. Since most users in our organisation rely on the phone as a method of communication, it was difficult to bring a Cisco IP phone to the users home during the lockdown, enter Cisco Jabber. The Cisco Jabber (softphone) communicates with the actual phone and the calls go through. All you have to do is log in and start calling actual phones and as well as other users with Cisco Jabber, that's it, with no complications whatsoever. The Cisco Jabber is used by most users who use a laptop to work at home to this day.
  • Integrates well with the actual Cisco phone so the calls can be taken directly from the computer.
  • Integrates well with Microsoft, so when you're on a call, for example, your status as "on-call" is shared with Microsoft products (e.g. Microsoft Teams).
  • Simple Sign-in, there is no need to have separate accounts for Cisco Jabber itself. We've used the current Active Directory user credentials to login into the Cisco Jabber.
  • Calls aren't directly Synced with the actual Cisco Phone. E.g. when the Cisco Jabber is not running, and I start making calls using the actual phone, then I run Cisco Jabber, the call history is not reflected back to Cisco Jabber. This may require additional setup from our end but I cannot confirm.
  • Easier and way cheaper communication internally (and to some extent externally) as VoIP technology is used.
  • Less Management for the IT, since it is built-in the Cisco Unified Communication Manager. We don't have to manage two separate systems.
  • Everlasting, as long as we have a license for it, with every update, it keeps getting better and better, and we don't have to change/upgrade it compared with a physical IP phone.

Do you think Cisco Jabber delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Cisco Jabber's feature set?

Yes

Did Cisco Jabber live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Cisco Jabber go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Cisco Jabber again?

Yes

Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365), MS SharePoint
From my experience, I don't see any other product from another vendor that comes even close to the features offered by Cisco Jabber. That is especially the case if you are using Cisco IP Phones with the Cisco Unified Communication Manager. Besides, Cisco Jabber can help you have a hybrid model which is cost-effective. If not all users require an actual phone, you can easily let Cisco Jabber users communicate with others on actual phones via the extension numbers.
