Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Meraki MG

We use Cisco Meraki MG in our organization to deploy, manage, and monitor our several access points deployed at various locations. It gives us access to see every single access point deployed and also gives us the ability to see which ones aren't working properly. Cisco makes it easy to manage our devices all in one place.
  • All in one
  • Simplified
  • User Friendly
  • License by device
  • Improved map feature would be good

  • Good IT Management
  • Firewall like capabilities
  • Good Monitoring
Cisco Meraki Management is extremely easy to deploy and really user-friendly. When adding or replacing any camera or AP you would just add it by the mac address and it appears on your management portal, You assign the Ip needed and you are good to go. We did have some issues implementing it with Cisco Umbrella but it's not a big issue.
We integrated our cisco product with various other products to monitor and protect our network environment. Our Splunk Enterprise is collecting logs from the Meraki products. We also integrated Cisco Meraki products with our in-house active directory to allow our employees to access the internet with the active directory passwords they have.
Cisco Meraki Management console is extremely easy for scalability. The only downside would be that it requires a yearly license for each device deployed. After having licenses the add and remove process is easy, just add the mac address and the Meraki console recognizes the device and it will allow you to add the IP address and add its location and name.
Both products are similar to each other, they both are flexible and have the ability to expand and downgrade. Cisco Meraki Management seems to be a more secure product, but it comes with a higher price tag. Cisco Meraki management portal seems to have more integrations with other products like Umbrella.
For our environment, we have several substations miles apart that have Meraki APs that need to be monitored for when they go down. We use those APs for the line crew to access the necessary data to do their work. Meraki Management portal lets us see which devices are online and which ones are offline.

Cisco Hybrid Work

  • Cisco Meraki Wireless Access Point
  • Cisco Catalyst Switches
  • Cisco AnyConnect
  • Cisco Umbrella
  • Cisco Secure Access by Duo
  • Working from an office or other company space
  • Working from home
We purchased Cisco Umbrella with other Cisco products to allow employees to work from home. Cisco Umbrella allows us to keep our company devices secure and we can monitor the device. Cisco anyConnect allows employees to remote to our office servers securely.
The implementation of any connect did take us a while to implement but it works smoothly after everything is done.
Our organization faced several challenges such as fine tuning down the security settings on our firewall, fine tuning AAA to work with the firewall and our domain controller. One group of our department kept having issues using the any connect to vpn to one of our servers. Cisco support helped us out with that.
After overcoming all the issues and hurdles, hybrid work allows our employees to work from anywhere and have access to all the information they require.
Our employees often have to travel and work at different locations which requires them to access specific data or specific servers. With our Cisco implementation it makes it easy for them to access it effortlessly.
There is a big learning curve with our new next generation firewall that we purchase that allows us to use any connect. Our Firepower management has endless configurations that need to be fine tuned for the best security. After accomplishing that, explaining and teaching other employees on how to use the Cisco technology is easy which they are always used to the old ways.
We have always used Cisco products since the beginning and will continue to use them.
The security they provide is at the top and in our industry security is what we are after. Cisco products do come with a higher price, but the price is well suited for the service and quality of products they offer.
