Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Meraki MX

We use and deploy Cisco Meraki MX devices to all our clients. We are very happy with its level of security and intrusion detection. The fact that the entire system is all cloud-based helps as well. It's easy to make a change without causing interruption to the client.
  • Easy of use and setup
  • Intrusion detection
  • Logging
  • Creating combination networks
  • Better pricing
  • They just released a 1Gbit device, but it's still kind of expensive.

Do you think Cisco Meraki MX delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Cisco Meraki MX's feature set?

Yes

Did Cisco Meraki MX live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Cisco Meraki MX go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Cisco Meraki MX again?

Yes

  • Such an easy way to get a network running
  • The price for other components is too high to go full stack
  • After three years without renewing the license, the device becomes a paperweight
We've deployed [Cisco Meraki] MX devices remotely by literally pointing out the internet in on the device and shipped it to a client and it's setup. With the entire system being cloud-based, we are able to make changes to anything on the network/MX remotely and quickly. We have been very happy with the Cisco [Meraki] MX and how easily it's managed.
Putting a full-stack Cisco Meraki [MX] system makes networking super easy. All are managed from one location via the cloud. Doing a full-stack allows a manager to track packets from the internet to the end-user and each step in between. You can turn off ports in the MS or a specific SSID in the MR. The MX will allow you to see exactly which SSID a user is connected to, making it easy to see why users are having issues.
I wish devices weren't hardware locked to a specific speed.
While Ubiquiti is cheaper and has products that will work at faster speeds, the fact that devices can fall off a network with no questions is an issue. I've never had this issue with [Cisco] Meraki [MX].
For anyone with a network who needs any level of security, putting a Cisco Meraki MX in place is the easiest and most secure way to do that. Going full-stack, MX, MS, MR is a great way to get a solid network in place. Getting the Advanced Security license allows you to easily stop malware from reaching your network.

Cisco Hybrid Work

  • Cisco Meraki MX
  • Cisco Meraki MR
  • Cisco Meraki MS
  • Cisco Meraki MV
  • Working from anywhere (e.g., coffee shop, airport)
  • Working from an office or other company space
  • Working from home
We have fully implemented the hybrid work solution. We had it built before Covid happened, and the ease of how to do it on Meraki equipment made it super easy to move everyone to completely work from home and then inevitably move to the hybrid solution.
A big issue was security. How do we keep organization computers secure when people are at home on their $59 off the shelf router? Once we figure out the solution to this the rest of it was easy.
Using Cisco Meraki allowed us to realize that the security is just built in. Forcing everyone to use VPN to connect to their on-prem server enabled us to keep security in place. We also made it a rule that if anyone is doing client work, they must be on the VPN to ensure company safety and security.
There are productivity increases. No longer are people forced to have to schlep into the office - so that's a plus. On the opposite side, a lot of times, personal/work boundaries have broken down (but that's not a Cisco problem :) ).

The hybrid model also allows for staff members to feel safer (healthwise) with going in and out of the office.
