Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Cisco Meraki MX Firewalls at Unit locations across the country for remote site connectivity and SD-WAN. For us, it solves issues around security and manageability--in particular, the ability to template and manage many Units easily and effectively. It provides a sleek and efficient way to implement security policies across a broad range of locations.

Alternatives Considered

We leveraged traditional Cisco firewalls previously, and Meraki offers much more insight, ability to template, and ease of configuration by comparison. We are able to deploy new sites seamlessly and easily, often without touching the device.

Cisco Meraki MX Firewalls is well suited for larger organizations looking to have visibility and ease of management across a range of locations and that are looking to enforce templated solutions and security. It is less appropriate where detailed configuration is required due to some of the restrictions (although this can be remedied by support and/or API calls in some cases).

Cisco Meraki MX Firewalls offer a low touch, manageable solution for small and large organizations.
