Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Nexus

Implemented a multi-pod ACI design in order to provide active/active DC services for our critical applications. The Nexus 9Ks have performed admirably and efficiently for use cases, especially on 14.x/15.x versions of code. Having the underlying complexity of the VXLAN/COOP/MP-BGP/IS-IS fabric abstracted away has allowed us to focus on shaping - and implementing - the business policy instead. We also implemented Nexus 9Ks for the inter-pod network in NXOS mode.
  • ACI / VXLAN-based fabric overlay
  • Affordable high-speed switching
  • Stability of SNMP / monitoring
  • Clarity of ACI's network abstraction
  • Licensing
  • Able to offer higher SLA for DC infrastructure
  • Reduced DC services infrastructure cost by nearly 30% by bringing services back in-house

Did implementation of Cisco Nexus Series Switches go as expected?

Would you buy Cisco Nexus Series Switches again?

Yes

Cisco offers a competitive data center offering with the Nexus 9Ks, whether in traditional NXOS mode or in managed-fabric ACI mode. As long as Cisco retains standard (fixed/perpetual) licensing and doesn't force users into costly subscription licensing the Nexus 9000s will remain our go-to for our data center switching needs.
