Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Routers

43xx and 44xx this is our standard for WAN services. We have them deployed globally at our edge locations. We are using the ASR model in our DCs and core.
  • App identification with NBAR2 is great. We use it in conjunction with our robust QoS.
  • Routing is obviously what built Cisco and it is as expected rock solid on the isr4K platform.
  • We are looking foward to the intergration of Viptela software on to this platform. Having this on the road map will help our migration.
  • We have found several code bugs and it has caused outages on our network.
  • The license program is a bit confusing - there are several tiers and we have had issues with Cisco ONE portability.
  • The licensing of these boxes can get expensive and confusing.
  • The uptime has been good. Building the network with the 4k platform is easy so there is less time spen training our deployment teams.
We have a mixed LAN of Cisco and non-Cisco there are no issues connecting. In the past, with older models of this product line, we did have issues connecting to some extreme switches but it seems that has been resolved on the 4K platform.
Our infosec team is constantly scaning and hardly ever finds an issue other than issues related to configuration. Running UCS on the 4K and running firepower seems like an idea that has some potential in our network. The 4K platform is flexible and can enhance your security posture.
We have been using Cisco Routers for a very long time and compared to other routers I see some improved metrics with regard to uptime. The 4K supports our robust QoS policy which gives us maximum application experience on our network.
They are the powerhouse when it comes to IP routing. The ease of use is great. The licensing requires an MBA.
  • All WAN routing scenarios and IP conversation scenarios.
  • The 4K platform could be used in a small DC.
