We use these small routers to build up the PPPoE dialers with multiple public IPs behind it.
Mostly we connect a Cisco ASA firewall behind it and give one or more public IPs directly to the other companies of suppliers at the customer site.

- Stability on routing.
- HA solutions like HSRP.
- Easy to manage remotely and through custom scripts.
- GUI for configuration like ASDM for ASAs, so it will be a more manageable first line support.
- Make it easier to build op Site2Site VPNs and adjust the profiles.
- The long-term stability is great, we have very few problems, resulting in low maintenance costs.
- Configuration for almost all routers in the basics is the same, so there's a very short learning curve per model.
- Running some models of Router for more than 10 years of stability, so the ROI with the devices is greater than expected on starting.

We are using Cisco Routers for all our routing. For security, we are using Cisco ASA Firewalls equipped with FirePower for more security, and with ASDM we can give the right tools to the first line support employees of the company.
I have used other routers or Layer 3 devices in the past. Most of the time I had issues with stability, compatibility, and having an HA solution with a good switchover option.
Since we started only using Cisco devices for all routing, I have never had strange compatibility or stability. We are running multiple devices with HSRP and are happy with all the options.
Routing with Cisco EIGRP can make life easier with very short switchover times in a redundant network.

We built a total Cisco environment based on Cisco-only network equipment. We started with UCS for Compute and network, and are now switching to HyperFlex. This is all connected to Nexus switches and some Catalyst switches for OOBM. This is also all connected to the internet by an HA cluster of Cisco ASAs.
On remote sites, we are using Cisco ASAs with Catalyst switches with 1800 APs with Mobility Express. In some specific cases we missed routing equipment or routing functions not available on Cisco ASAs, so we selected and are using Cisco Routers.
