Overall Satisfaction with Cisco UCS Series

The Cisco UCS Series servers are used as the basis of the virtual machines that run our telephony systems. As such, they are really only used by the IT department, although the telephone system itself is used by everyone. The Cisco UCS Series servers provide a solid compute platform for our virtual machines.
  • Good priced servers suitable for many virtual workloads
  • Pre-tested for use with Cisco telephony virtual servers
  • There are enough resources that we have fit six virtual servers into a single 1RU of rack space.
I think that the Cisco UCS Series of servers probably compare fairly evenly with the HPE ProLiant DL series, as both will have similar compute resources in the same size package. The advantage of the Cisco UCS Series for us is that we wanted to use them for Cisco virtual servers, hence they were already tested to meet the performance required.

Cisco Unified Communications Manager (Call Manager), VMware ESXi
These servers have been great for our company, as they are designed to work well with other Cisco components in our network. They are a compute platform designed to run VMware as the hypervisor, so if that is not your chosen virtualization technology, then maybe these are not the servers for you.
