We have call center folks utilizing it extensively. Using the virtual desktop they can access the software attached to their from anywhere and any machine.

Ease of access from any desktop
Easy for helpdesk to support
Easy to push new software and updates to all user group through a single push
Security in healthcare is very critical and addresses that very strongly

Network Fileshare mapping where I have encountered some issues.

In my opinion, since I have been using the VDI for a long time I think Citrix Virtual Apps Essentials is the leader. I see it is more suitable where you multiple shift and same space is being utilized by many people.
I don't see in case of software development VDI is much needed.
