Overall Satisfaction with CloudBerry Backup
We utilize CloudberryLab Managed backup Services to handle the cloud backups for our clients. 100 companies, with a total of 150 Machines/licenses. We utilize MBS to back up our client data and machine images to both Google and Amazon Cloud Storage services as well as to local USB/NAS drives. Having client-side encryption as well as redundant backup locations at a reasonable price point makes Cloudberry MBS the ideal solution for SMB clients such as ours.
- A wide array of choices for Backend storage - We use Amazon, Google, Backblaze and Wasabi
- Flexible Retention policies - We keep data/versions locally for one year, at Google for 90 days, and at Amazon for 30 days.
- Extremely low price point allowing us to charge prices that are competitive with Mozy and provide fully managed backup services
- Extremely powerful central management console allowing us to monitor, edit, and run backups and restores for all client devices from any computer or mobile device
- Reporting of summarized historical Backup activity by the client is weaker than it could be. Cloudberry has reached out via their Customer Forum to gather requirements and preferences, indicating that they are aware that it needs additional development
- The hybrid backup implementation is powerful (Local backup with data sent to Cloud afterward) but lacks the ability to have different retention periods for each destination
- Since switching from Mozy Pro to Cloudberrylab four years ago, our ROI has been extremely positive. The reliability of the product has improved significantly such that we do not need to dedicate much staff time to monitor/manage the backups on a daily basis.
- By designating a backup specialist within our organization tasked with keeping up with the latest features, testing restores, and fixing any issues that arise with client backups, we have a high level of efficiency and can respond to restore requests in a very short timeframe.
- We have been able to lower the per GB price to our customers and still maintain our overall profitability for our backup service
Mozy Pro is/was a decent product for self-service backup, but our typical client is not tech savvy enough to handle fixing the common errors (permissions, encrypted files etc> ) that cause failures. They do not monitor the backups on a regular basis, and they have no idea how to properly execute a restore. There is no ability to chose from multiple back-end storage platforms, retention periods are not nearly as flexible, the upload speed is slower and it does not have the bandwidth throttling that Cloudberry possesses, and it does not have true client-side encryption keys at least when we used it).
