Overall Satisfaction with Cloudflare

I consult with a number of small businesses that have a web presence. I encourage the use of Cloudflare to prevent malicious web traffic from disrupting their business operations.
  • I no longer have to worry about DDOS attacks.
  • Prevents bots from accessing areas they shouldn't, like login screens.
  • International CDN provides peace of mind when traffic might spike.
  • I am eager to see what they might be able to offer for email security.
  • Some settings appear to be redundant, or the distinction is confusing, such as with firewall rules and page rules.
  • The peace of mind and ease of use of their free offering make it a no-brainer for smaller websites.
  • CDN and caching functionality means less money spent on server hardware.
  • More advanced offerings that are not free may become cost-prohibitive for small businesses.
The setup was nearly painless. It just involved changing some DNS records. Cloudflare provided clear and immediate feedback explaining any configuration errors and how to resolve them.
I have not had to contact any actual people at Cloudflare. Their online guides and FAQs covered almost everything I needed.

For CDN, firewalls, and threat management on websites, this is a fantastic tool. It may or may not be appropriate for some web applications (e.g. eCommerce may require special configurations), but for basic websites, Cloudflare is a no-brainer to mitigate threats and offer peace of mind.

Excellent usability, but knowledge of network administration is a must.
