Overall Satisfaction with CloudFoundry

We use CloudFoundry as our default and preferred Platform as a Service (PaaS) solution for most of our Cloud applications. It is simple to use, well supported, and feature-rich. It makes our DevOps process a breeze, a single command will take care of deployments, It also supports features that are critical to the cloud, such as automatic horizontal and vertical scaling, blue/green zero downtime deployment, and more.
  • Ease of use, up and running in no time.
  • Well documented
  • Supports most common languages such as Java, Node.js, etc.
  • Open source with a big community contributing to it.
  • Does not support HTTP/2
  • Certain features such as persistent logging requires 3rd party vendor.
  • May require additional customization to build packs if you have specialized deployment/run requirements.
  • Streamlining deployment process.
  • Simplifying support with automation features.
CloudFoundry is more feature rich and has better support for different platforms and languages.

Do you think CloudFoundry delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with CloudFoundry's feature set?

Yes

Did CloudFoundry live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of CloudFoundry go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy CloudFoundry again?

Yes

If you are with a Cloud platform vendor that supports CloudFoundry natively, such as AWS, IBM Cloud, and does not have the time and resources to invest in something like Dockers/Kubernetes, then CloudFoundry is an excellent alternative. It will get you started in deploying applications in the cloud, start thinking in DevOps, self-contained deployment packaging (i.e. no need for heavy app servers like WebLogic), stateless design, and horizontal scaling, all of which are important in the Cloud era. And most of all, it is very simple to get going.
