Overall Satisfaction with Cornerstone OnDemand

Cornerstone OnDemand learning and performance modules are used across a manufacturing organization with facilities in North America, Europe, and Asia. It is used for training manufacturing staff, salespeople, and support staff in compliance and developmental training. It is also used for new hire and annual performance management and talent review and 9-Box succession planning.
  • Easy to upload new trainings or update existing ones
  • Simple user management
  • Configurable, dynamic learning assignments
  • Legacy system with new features built on top of old or outdated ones, i.e. system configuration or reporting
  • Crossover features between modules do not always function correctly, i.e. observation checklists from performance used as learning objects
  • Development focus on adding new features instead of responding to client requests for improvements to existing ones
  • Maintaining compliance
  • Electronic performance management
  • Leadership development
Cornerstone operates like a big ship; it takes a while for it to change direction. I have not been part of the selection process for Cornerstone but understand that they will provide steep discounts in exchange for longer contracts. I would prefer a newer or more agile system that does not carry as much legacy baggage as Cornerstone has developed.
Cornerstone OnDemand is well suited for large organizations where existing systems may need to be integrated into training, such as an HRIS or Salesforce. Organizations may also need either monetary resources for a third-party vendor or internal programming resources in order to customize or get a fuller experience from the system. Smaller, more nimble organizations may find that Cornerstone is too large and not agile enough for their needs.

Using Cornerstone OnDemand

Configuring Cornerstone OnDemand

Cornerstone is configurable if you have a large budget to pay a third-party vendor to build additional solutions on top of the system. Otherwise, you better have a team of Java developers who can devote project time to build out your needs. Otherwise, you can change colors and add a handful of widgets.
