Overall Satisfaction with Crunchbase

We use Crunchbase as a source or reference in checking out private companies or private equity/ venture backed firms for funding, revenue or general company details. The database contains a comprehensive list of start up firms that most databases do not really track or maintain details to hence becoming a very useful tool for research managers or analysts like us.
  • Comprehensive list of start up firms
  • Easy way to look for funding information
  • Very easy search functionality
  • The product does the job for me and I couldn't really ask for more.
  • In terms of ROI, Crunchbase actually has a free version which can do basic searches and hence letting one enjoy the basic benefits of the tool without additional costs for the company
  • It has different subscription offerings and has tie ups with firms like FactSet hence data are also accessible if you have access to these databases
Crunchbase has a free version that provides the basic data that you should need in analyzing and reviewing companies. The list of private equity or venture backed firms in this database is so comprehensive and very up to date. The industry catergories are also updated with new trending industries that most databases do not cover.
I don't really download reports from this database, most of the time web only use this tool to check for information on private and angel companies who have received fundings from certain investors. For us, this databases is a good start when doing in depth reviews or research on very small but disruptive companies

The database is actually a very good start when you are doing reseaches on start up companies, fundings or checking out companies in "new" industries that are mostly not covered by big databases like factset or Capital IQ. It contain a wide range of information that other databases do not offer however the accuracy of some data are sometimes questionable.
