Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use D&B Finance Analytics daily to help with credit decisions for our customers. For non-public companies, it is especially helpful since they often will not provide financials; for public companies, D&B does a great job of summarizing the data from their financial reports into an easy-to-use format.

Pros and Cons

Summary and straightforward presentation of data from financial statements for public companies.
Ratings and details for non-public companies.
Various tools for managing accounts.

The site is not always reliable and it seems they do maintenance during the day or right at the end of the quarter which is the worst time for us to lose D&B.
The Search is ok but could definitely be improved.
Our D&B rep is fake-nice and always trying to upsell.
Can't attend trainings or webinars without D&B trying to upsell you.

Return on Investment

Helps us mitigate the risk of extending credit to companies that are likely to be slow-payers or file for bankruptcy.

Finance Analytics Performance

We don't use the AR portion of the tool.

Implementation and Deployment

The company was already using it when I started so I don't know how easy or difficult it was to stand up. The tool has helped me personally to learn what to look for during my credit reviews of customers.

Support is not good at all in my opinion.

Usability

It is just too intermittent. Half the time when you search for a company and then click to get the report, it just circles and circles and you have to launch the site again. Maybe this happens because the site has timed out, but if so then they should let you know it is about to do that just like any bank or credit card site does.

When it works, it is very helpful!
