Overall Satisfaction with D&B Hoovers

We serve clients in a variety of industries. While our internal database of contacts is extensive, sometimes we need to expand our outreach efforts in very specific industry verticals or geographies, often with a specific company or revenue size parameters. For our marketing efforts to be most effective, we need to be able to reach out directly to the decision-makers (C-level) at these companies. D&B has helped our marketing & administrative team pinpoint and build effective target lists tailored to each of our client's desired outcomes.
  • allows you to search within broad industry categories or very detailed subcategories using a variety of methods (NAICS, SIC, D&B's internal coding system, keywords, etc.)
  • Has a variety of personnel that you can view and sort by level, name, or email availability.
  • Oftentimes emails for C-level personnel cannot be located on the company website or easily found elsewhere online.
  • Sometimes the personnel data is outdated.
  • Email accuracy is not the best; perhaps having an indicator of how likely that email is accurate would be helpful.
  • D&B has been very helpful in allowing us to build target lists that are industry or geography-specific for our various clients.
  • D&B does decrease the amount of time spent manually researching/building lists.
D&B builds great data profiles on companies, but sometimes the revenue or personnel data is not accurate or missing.
You can almost always find at least 1 or 2 contacts listed for a company. It seems that D&B really strives to find C-Level personnel/decision-makers. Sometimes the contact data is outdated, and/or the contact information is not accurate. We really have to test emails from D&B before sending mass email campaigns to ensure that we maintain our email sending reputation.
D&B is more cost-effective and is by far superior in its search and list-building capabilities. The main benefit (and really the only reason we use it) is that RocketReach has the ability to scan a LinkedIn profile and extract an email.

D&B is well suited for building industry- or geography-specific target lists. It is not always the most efficient/reliable for email contact info.
