Overall Satisfaction with DeepCrawl

I use DeepCrawl primarily to kick off SEO engagements. It's the foundation of my technical SEO audit, and I also use it on occasion to troubleshoot little issues or irregularities I see in current or potential clients, or even just for research. It's nice to get the feel for a site that is succeeding with a crawl.
  • The primary Dashboard is pretty excellent—not too much stuff to look at, just the main issues and a hierarchical breakdown of the site structure
  • I love the Broken Links tab—this is a super simple way to find what's broken so you can fix site circulation issues
  • The indexation tab is really nice too—no need to surf through thousands of URLs in a spreadsheet to assess the index
  • I find the loading panel during a crawl to be a bit deceptive. It's very hard to tell how long a crawl will take—a more accurate estimate would go a long way.
  • I love the "fetch time" tab in theory, but I have a hard time believing it—not that the figure they give is untrue, but I find it at wide variance with other tools. PageSpeedInsights will have a site looking disastrous and DeepCrawl will log it all fetching "quick". But perhaps page speed is just notoriously difficult to assess.
  • The price of the tool compared to the amount of time it saves me is a staggering number.
  • With DeepCrawl I can leave no stone unturned, which helps establish Agency credibility with clients.
Screaming Frog is somewhat quicker, and I prefer it for issues I need to check up on immediately. But for larger analysis and full site architecture audits, DeepCrawl has a simpler interface and allows for deeper insights without needing to dig around. I appreciate all the quick widget exports you can do in DeepCrawl as well. Every little bit helps!
DeepCrawl is organized very well for a full technical audit of a site. The menu on the left side is very easy to navigate, and you don't have to surf around too much to get an idea of what is plaguing a site. For a larger audit, DeepCrawl rules. Smaller audits can be tricky if you just want to know one quick thing because the crawl time can be unpredictable and difficult to project.
