Overall Satisfaction with Deputy

Our company did some research near the end of 2019 on new scheduling software. At that time we were using a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet to manage our entire department's schedules. We wanted something that had remote access for employees to view their shifts and request time off. We also wanted something where we could make changes remotely to one employee's shift or an entire schedule. Deputy provided us with the answer.

We signed up for a 3 month trial basis and became familiar with the web based program and the app based program. Overall it fits most of our needs and there are continuous upgrades and updates that have made the platform more user friendly. It did take a little time to create the entire departments schedule and it can be a little cumbersome with a rotating shift but we have made it work. It can also be a bit of a struggle for employees who do not use their mobile devices much.

Overall I have been very happy with Deputy and will continue to use it.

  • Easily adding and removing users.
  • Improving calendars at the employee level to look like the supervisor level on the app.
  • Better group copy and paste options.
  • Made employees access to the schedule easier
  • made time off requests easier
We did not test any other companies after our trial period with Deputy.

Overall, Deputy is a good program. There are areas that need improvement. What is good about this is Deputy accepted recommendations for improvements and actually uses them.
The implementation was relatively easy once you learned how to create everything that meets your departments needs.
Deputy has a great capability for a supervisor to access the online schedule to make real-time edits as needed. The app can be difficult when making a large number of changes, and I have had times where things have not updated on the app compared to the website.
