Overall Satisfaction with Deputy

I use it to help with scheduling our guest services staff so that I can keep an eye on how many hours each employee has per shift/week. I also like that I can see how shifts overlap so that we can keep from overscheduling.
  • Showing time-off requests during the week.
  • Scheduling in general--it's fairly intuitive and easy to use.
  • Allowing different scheduling areas on one screen.
  • Time-off requests can be confusing to put in.
  • The ability to edit time-off requests instead of having to delete and redo them.
  • Being able to assign colors to individual employees so schedules are easier to read at a glance.
  • Scheduling time has been cut down due to easily seeing time-off requests and total weekly hours.
  • Employee costs have also gone down due to being able to see days where too many people are scheduled at once.
  • It has also helped balance hours so that all employees at the same hour range are getting similar hours each week, rather than skewing hours toward one person or another.
Deputy seems to be the most cost-effective and user-friendly option I've used thus far. I've looked into other programs, but with a smaller team of people I can't justify spending $50+ a month on scheduling alone. Prior to Deputy, we used to manually schedule in an Outlook calendar, which left a lot of room for error. Being able to import the Deputy schedule to Outlook to somewhat combine methods has been great as well!

Are you happy with Deputy's feature set?

Yes

Did Deputy live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Deputy go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Deputy again?

Yes

It's pretty easy to use as a whole, but as mentioned, time off requests can be difficult to input. Customization could be easier as well. Having to get with their customer service team to set up a custom hour profile was easy, but I think could have been set up by the user themselves.
Implementing Deputy was pretty easy. I like that there's an app for the calendar, but it can also be accessed online by employees to view their schedule, add time-off requests, and swap shifts. Printed calendars could be cleaner, and I think that would help employees who aren't as tech-savvy or would just like a physical copy.

Overall, Deputy is really nice for scheduling, especially when you have multiple areas that employees are scheduled in. This is nice when you have to schedule one person in 2+ areas during the day, as well as when you are looking at their weekly/daily time within the areas. I think that customization can be a little difficult, though, and it may not be great for a larger organization with more employees and areas.
