Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Deputy to roster staff across three separate stores. It saves me a lot of time each week compared to the last method I used.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Show staff unavailability.
Drag shifts between staff members.
Easy to print hard copy of roster.
Easy for staff to swap shifts.

Cons

Hard to set up kiosk feature so haven't bothered.
Would be nice to dismiss a notice that a staff member might be 'stressed' for a shift.
Staff could potentially approve the above point so it doesn't continually show up for person creating roster.

Return on Investment

I have saved a few hours a week on rostering.
No missed shifts due to errors when rostering.
No missed shifts due to employees 'reading the roster wrong.'

Alternatives Considered

I have not used any programs for rostering besides Deputy.

Over all it is easy to use, however I don't think I use even half of the features that are available! I would like to learn about the features but at the moment it is working for me with only using the basic features that I know and use frequently.

Implementation Rating

Although Deputy was implemented for us a while ago, from memory it was an easy process. I had set up a phone meeting to with a Deputy staff member to get started. A lot of the features are self explanitory and you could work it out as you go. Our staff loved the change to this system for rostering and embraced the change and love the features.

Likelihood to Recommend

Deputy makes rostering across different locations and departments easy. The layout is logical and colour coded so it is easy to check all information is correct with just a quick look over. At a glance you can see who is available on a certain day and who is not. Employee information is stored and easy to access. It is very easy to create rosters and for staff to request a swap or swap between themselves.
Employees can opt in for push notifications of upcoming shifts, receive a notification when their new shifts are published and when any changes are made.
