Overall Satisfaction with Deputy

We implemented Deputy in 2019 as a scheduling solution when opening a new retail store, for a small team of 6. We needed a solution that would allow the team to manage staff rotas and holidays, while allowing managers and employees at other sites to be able to view the rota and cover holiday periods. Deputy offered a clean, low-cost solution that addressed all of these needs, and then some: the HR components were a bit overkill in our case but would be very useful for a team without any other means of tracking employee information. The ability to track training completed by each employee was also an unexpected bonus.

Interface is a bit fussy -- can be confusion between site settings and account settings. Logging in multiple times is often required when performing administrative tasks. Employees get a clean, simplified experience through the app, which is great; however, managers and administrators need to wade through a lot more screens and options in order to do anything, and for a manager without a lot of technical ability this can be off-putting. Difficult to tailor to specific needs in certain areas (e.g. maintaining holiday types), and integration experience is poor.
Overall solid and reliable, but requires support to use and don't try to integrate.
Don't bother with integration. Do just contact support when trying to set up your holiday types, and make sure you're using a desktop and not a mobile device.
Deputy is very well suited for a simple staff rota scenario, especially if you are looking for employees to self-service checking in and out of shifts. Its mobile capabilities are excellent, and built-in notifications are great. Deputy is not great as an HR solution: while it can handle certain employee data, salary information, training, etc., this is not very flexible. Also, customers who do not require this will find they still need to complete certain information to use the system. Integration is also not a good experience with Deputy. Interface is not easy to navigate and is focused on preset options. Would suggest a different system if clean, easy integration is an important feature.
